FAQ’s about ChildsFeet
We encourage you to join your local Chamber as well as the ChildsFeet. However, the Chamber has an inclusive nature. There may be other business owners offering the same services as you in your area of expertise. You “own” your area of expertise within your tribe when you join ChildsFeet, and your competition within your tribe is excluded.
The main difference between ChildsFeet, and any other networking organization, is that our networking group consists of entrepreneurs who are child oriented. Thus, each member of your tribe has a customer base that can benefit from your business offering. It allows for each member to become part of your sales force.
Your passion and promise to share with your tribe make ChildsFeet work. Our foundation is to exchange and expand. We exchange access to customer base, knowledge and experiences to expand businesses. Trust and loyalty between members of the tribe drives referrals to all members. The importance of building relationships, and demonstrating a remarkable job with your customers, is key to the success of any tribe.
Enrollment-based services constitutes a service that is provided to a child on a
regular basis often weekly. Such services include gymnastics, swimming, ballet,
music lessons, tutoring, learning centers etc. These businesses require the child to
be enrolled to receive the service. Some businesses may offer both enrolled and
non-enrolled services. A ski school may provide skiing lessons both as an enrolled
student and as a one-time offering. As long as the business provides some form of
enrollment-based service it qualifies as an enrollment-based business.
Some child-focused entrepreneurs offer enrollment-based services at retail
locations such as shopping centers, strip malls and office buildings. They would
belong to Retail tribes. Home-based entrepreneurs offer similar services from
their homes or third-party locations such as schools, churches, parks and
recreation buildings. They would belong to Home-Based tribes.
Strategic Partners are those businesses that provide products or services to
children when needed. Children do not attend these businesses on an enrollment
basis. Some examples of these businesses providing services are chiropractors,
pediatricians, and dentists. Business owners of indoor adventure parks, arcades,
party, music and sporting supply stores may also join as Strategic Partners.
If the Strategic Partner’s office is based in a retail/commercial space, they join a
Retail Tribe. If the Strategic Partner’s office is based out of their home, they
join a Home-Based Tribe.
If your business is located in a commercial space please, join a Retail Tribe. If your business office is located in your home, please join a Home-Based Tribe.
We want to make sure both you and your tribe will benefit from your membership. Tribes only accept one member from each area of expertise. For example, there will be only one swim school or gymnastics business in each tribe.
ChildsFeet provides a structure and process for networking and marketing. Each member will become part of your sales force. Your drive, enthusiasm and professionalism will help you convert these referrals into customers.
Your tribe will expect you to be enthusiastic, supportive and loyal. You are also encouraged to attend the once a month Monthly Matters meeting. If you can’t attend a meeting you are encouraged to send a team member to represent you so your tribe members can refer with confidence.
Retail Tribes will meet at a business location of a tribe member. Home-Based Tribes can meet at a breakfast location or ask for a gracious member from a sister Retail Tribe to host their Monthly Matter meetings.
First and foremost, provide your energy and enthusiasm for your fellow tribe members, offer a tour of your facility and share the unique offerings of your business. Tribe members will then be able to refer with confidence. Light refreshments of coffee, tea, soda and a light snack is optional but encouraged. The best relationships are created when folks break bread together.
Your graciousness is all that is expected. The Home-Based Tribe members may choose to bring light refreshments to the meeting. They will also make sure that they clean up after themselves. Your hospitality is much appreciated.
Each Retail Tribe is encouraged to have a “sister” Home-Based Tribe in their local area. ChildsFeet recommends quarterly socials for these “sister” tribes at a Retail Tribe members business location. This helps develop new relationships with peers and an exchange of ideas.
Each enrollment-based member of the Retail Tribe will be required to host a Traveling Table every month at their business location. You will have the 24” inch cocktail type table available for the visiting tribe member. They will bring their own accessories and marketing materials. A warm welcome to the visiting member is the most important component of making the Traveling Table successful for both the host member and the presenting member.
Members of the Home-Based Tribe will bring their promotional flyers to Monthly Matters meetings. At these meetings, members will exchange flyers to pass out at their individual class locations. Tribes can also decide at a tribe level to email Flying Flyers instead of passing out by hand.
ChildsFeet encourages you to attend both. However, it is not mandatory. These meetings help you achieve your business goals and further strengthen relationships with your tribe members.
The annual membership for the Retail Tribe members is offered at the introductory membership fees of $250 for a US membership for the first year. Your annual dues give you access to all tribe related activities. Also, a one-time investment of about $60 to buy the Traveling Table is required. The renewal membership for Retail Tribe members is $300 a year.
There are different fees for international membership. Please contact us for more information regarding international membership.
The annual membership for the Home-Based Tribe members is offered at the introductory membership fees of $150 for a US membership for the first year. Your annual dues give you access to all tribe related activities. The renewal membership is $200 a year.
There are different fees for international membership. Please contact us for more information regarding international membership.
It is not mandatory, however, you are encouraged to attend one Monthly Matters prior to applying for membership into a tribe. This will give you valuable information as you consider the benefits of joining a tribe.
It is not mandatory, however, you are encouraged to attend one Traveling Table event before beginning the process to join ChildsFeet. This visit will allow you to witness first-hand why ChildsFeet strongly believes in Traveling Table, and how it will benefit your business.
ChildsFeet only accepts one entrepreneur from each child-focused business field. At times, this may cause an area of expertise to be unavailable in a tribe. Our goal is to provide support to any capable entrepreneur, so we have created options for you. As ChildsFeet grows other tribes in your area may have an opening for your area of expertise. You can also start your own tribe and begin building business relationships with other child-focused entrepreneurs in your area.
Yes, there can be more than one tribe in one city. If the existing tribe already has your area of expertise, you may choose to join another tribe in the same city or start your own.
The ChildsFeet Club Card is a membership card purchased by parents that gives benefits and discounts offered by tribe members. These could be discounts on enrollment fees, tuition fees and other such promotions.
Each ChildsFeet tribe member is to offer a benefit or discount such as a free backpack, free trial class or a nominal discount on enrollment or monthly fees.
Parents purchasing ChildsFeet Club Cards are more likely to give their business to another tribe member. Your discounts and benefits will attract them to your business. Our goal is to encourage parents to patronize the businesses of fellow ChildsFeet tribe members.
You have the option to renew your membership within 90 days of your membership expiration. If your membership is not renewed by the date of expiration, your area of expertise is opened to your community.
We offer an introductory rate for the first year for entrepreneurs to experience the vast benefits of ChildsFeet. We know that after the first year you will value all the benefits the organization offers you, and the relationships you built within your tribe.
